Canadian Blood Services One Match

A stem-cell donor registration drive for Canadian Blood Services' OneMatch network, held at Mashu Mashu Restaurant. Guests came in, filled in a health questionnaire, gave a cheek swab at the registration tables, and stayed for the buffet.

The brief was to make a restaurant feel like an event without getting in the way of the registration. Magenta and purple LED uplighting washed the walls right around the room, and a DJ played from behind a wine-rack partition, with a speaker on a stand carrying the music through the space.

It is a small job next to a gala, and a useful one to show: a charity drive in an ordinary restaurant, given light and music so that signing up felt like a night out.
