You have decided on the Sound Reinforcement, Projection and Lighting elements for your function, but no event is truly complete without the convergence of décor with Audio Visual media. Staging elements can be varied and can add that tactile texture to any memorable event. Drape and fabric can help close the divide between multiple projection screens for added congruence. Kabuki drop style reveal drape systems can be utilized for a quick and sudden surprise for your product launch. What we build with

• Stage decks with skirting and stair units, from a low riser for a head table to a full band stage.
• Lecterns, including clear acrylic lecterns that carry a client's logo.
• Truss portals, goalposts and towers, for framing a stage, flanking it with screens, or hanging lighting over it.
• Drape in various colours and lengths, to hide what should not be seen and bridge the gap between screens.
• Kabuki drop reveal systems, where a curtain falls away in an instant for a product launch.
• Screens built into the set: tripod, fast-fold and truss-frame screens, front or rear projection, and soft-edge blended widescreens.

Where the stage meets everything else

The stage is where sound, projection, lighting and décor meet, so we plan it with all four in mind: where the screens go, where the speakers can stand without blocking a sightline, what the lighting hangs from, and what the audience sees behind the speaker. Larger or specialised builds are coordinated with partners we work with regularly, so there is still one team to deal with.

Planning a stage

The size of a stage starts with who is on it. A single speaker at a lectern, a head table, a panel in armchairs and a six-piece band all need different decks. Then the room: ceiling height and rigging points, sightlines from the back tables, and access. At Vantage Venues on King Street West, a conference floor partway up an office tower, everything arrives by elevator; at an arena, the floor is ice.

Stages we have built

• An awards stage for the ACE Gala 2017: a white-topped deck with black skirting and stairs across the front of the ballroom, a printed backdrop and an ACE lectern.
• A players' entrance on the ice for the OMHA championships: a truss arch with lighting, a red carpet and a free-standing screen, on an arena floor.
• A performance riser on the dance floor at IBX Gala 2019, a small round stage for a lyra act.
• A presentation stage at Vantage Venues: a skirted black deck against a backdrop of frosted panels lit pink and blue.
• A hybrid set for UHN: a head table on a riser, screens on truss towers either side, and a separate interview stage.
• A talk-show set in a virtual studio: a low stage with armchairs, a lectern and a countdown clock at the lip.
